A Disney Princess Has Returned To Theaters

Welcome back, my fellow film lovers! For this blog post, I wanted to discuss one of Disney’s joyful, theatrical, comedic, and culture-inspired films that their official twelfth Disney princess successfully portrayed as a sequel: Moana 2.

Moana 2

Moana 2 (Summary) –

After Moana was crowned as the Wayfinder of her community, continuing the legacy of her ancestors, she traveled across the ocean in the hope of finding signs of other people living on these faraway islands. One day, as she went with her sister Simea to the hidden cave filled with ships and the history of their ancestors, Moana received a message from her ancestor, Tautai Vasa. He explained to her the urgency of raising an island called Motufetu from the ocean as it sank by the powers of the storm god Nalo; if not, their island would become deserted. Moana gathered her thoughts and resources to sail out to sea but was told by her parents that it was better if she was accompanied by a few of their most hardworking and trusted people. She agreed and asked the help of Loto, Moni, and Keke and traveled out to save their island alongside her pig Pua and rooster Heihei. Moana and her new crew have undergone several challenges, from facing and helping the Kakamoras to reuniting with Maui to save their island and meet more people by lifting the lost island.

My Review –

As a major fan of Disney films, I was very excited to hear that a second film was coming out for a creative and hardworking Disney princess. While watching this film, I was immediately drawn to the special relationship between Moana and her little sister, Simea. I found it precious and adorable the scenes where Simea and Moana call out to each other by saying “Big Sis” and “Little Sis” while hugging one another. I had many favorite scenes throughout the film, especially where the characters would sing. I particularly enjoyed the song when Moana tries to motivate Moni, Loto, and Kele that they can sail the boat to find the lost island and save their own. The excellent actors and actresses have continued to bring pride and emotion to this fantastic sequel. This movie was a wonderful watch as I enjoyed every funny and heartfelt moment throughout the film.

Public Review –

Many of the public have viewed this film as an incredible film, apart from the sequel, for its creative and colorful visual effects and perfect comedic timing, especially with the addition of the new characters. People immensely enjoyed the beautiful representation and expansion of relationships. These relationships have stressed the culture and the family bond between Moana and her people. However, there is also a vast range of negative comments regarding the film’s lack of a magical appearance towards the musical aspect of the movie. Several were disappointed with the sequel as they believed the first film perfectly executed Moana’s goals and character. Although there was an ongoing discussion between this film’s positive and negative comments, the worldwide box office for this film was 386.3 million dollars and 139.7 million dollars in the United States. This film was a significant economic success compared to the first film, as it brings back iconic actors and actresses, continuing the joy Moana produces for families and their children.

Thank you for reading my nineteenth blog post. I hope you enjoyed reading about a theatrical Disney sequel that has brought great pride and illustrated the importance of one’s community and family. In the next blog posts, you will learn more about the filming industry and read more movie interviews.

  1. I totally agree with how the author highlighted the bond between Moana and her little sister, Simea. Their “Big Sis” and “Little Sis” moments were super cute and made the movie feel really personal. It’s awesome how the sequel focuses on family and community, which adds a lot of heart to the story! Great job!
