Welcome back, everyone! In the last blog, I gave insight into how a film is produced, but on this blog, I would like to give a movie review in honor of the 36-year anniversary of the first Beetlejuice film.
Beetlejuice vs Beetlejuice 2
Beetlejuice 1989 (Summary) –
A loving couple known as Barbara and Adam Maitland have passed away in a car accident, but they are unaware that they are dead. They soon realize they are the ghosts haunting their own house and cannot step out of the house. Their home was sold to the Deetzes family, Delia Deetz (Stepmother), Charles Deetz (Father), and Lydia Deetz (Daughter). The Maitlands tried to scare off the Deetz family as they wanted the house to continue to be their home, even if they were dead, but nothing worked. However, Lydia could see them as if she were born with the gift of seeing ghosts because she loved living in horror and dark life. Unfortunately, their hauntings attracted the attention of a demon named Beetlejuice. The legend was that if you said his name three times, he would enter the living world and haunt you forever. He became a danger to the Deetz family and targeted Lydia, leaving it up to the Maitlands to save them from further harm.

My Review-
I was young when I first watched this film, but I enjoyed every part of the movie. Although it was a film from the late 1980s, the unique effects, characterization, and personality of Beetlejuice made it one of the best Halloween films of all time. My favorite part of the whole film is when Beetlejuice makes the Deetz family dance to an iconic song from the movie called Jump In The Line by Harry Belafonte, as he makes each character act, sing, and dance in a funny way. To this day, I continue to watch Beetlejuice every October to start the Halloween spirit.
Public Review-
Since the film was released to the public, more people have become fans. During the first couple of days of its release, the movie earned 74 million dollars, which was considered to be a huge amount of money, especially in this time period. This film has grown in popularity as it was introduced to new generations, creating a rise in merchandise and a musical that has been produced for a few years now.
After years of fans hoping for another film to come out, Tim Burton, the director of the original film, created and released a second film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, on September 6, 2024.

My Review-
When I heard that another film was coming out, I was extremely excited to see it in theaters. While watching it in the movie theater, I was amazed by all the flashbacks they showed in the first film, such as the song, the famous statues, and more. I loved how Tim Burton included the same specific effects they used in the first movie rather than using today’s new technology, such as CGI. Overall, I enjoyed how the original actors and actresses acted the same way they did in the original film, as that makes this film so popular and loved by others.
Public Review-
As this film grew in popularity throughout the years, the first weekend of its release earned 110 million dollars in Florida, but it increased to 1.28 billion dollars worldwide. This film has increased the number of fans since the first film was released. Most of the population has rated this movie as one of the top and best movies of 2024, continuing the legacy of Beetlejuice.
